Sydney Writers Festival to return

Following last year’s cancellation, the Sydney Writer’s Festival is planning a triumphant return this April.

One of Australia’s largest and most influential literary festivals, its impressive line-up boasts a programme of over 400 featured writers and is packed with plenty of opportunities for industry meet and greets. People also often trade Business Cards at events like this.

With workshops, panels and discussions spread across several locations across the greater Sydney region, local Randwick participants will also be able to access online conversations with best-selling Australian authors through the Randwick City Library as part of the festival’s ‘Nights at the Library’ series.

Artistic Director Michael Williams says that this year’s festival is about:

“Celebrating the voices that extended our world when it felt small. It’s about the Books that defeated the distance. It’s also a celebration of coming back together as a community. Rejoining one another in the same room for a shared passion: to hear and tell and challenge stories.”

The Sydney Writer’s Festival, which also hosts the 2021 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards, has been a mainstay of the Australian cultural landscape since being founded in 1997, and it has attracted thousands of local and international wordsmiths and book lovers over the years.

This year’s programme is scheduled to begin with the official opening night address by three of Australia’s most influential writers – Evelyn Araluen, Tara June Winch and Melissa Lucashenko.
