Randwick property sells over its reserve fast

A house in Randwick with two bedrooms has just sold for over $400,000 in excess of its reserve price.

The fast and high-value sale of the Randwick house at an auction has highlighted demand for local property. The auction was over in just under 10 minutes, by which time 28 Dolphin Street had changed hands. Agent Stephanie Farah made clear that there was considerable interest in the house before the auction took place, saying:

“Given the lack of freestanding homes in the market, the house is popular with buyers.”

Farah worked with agent Graeme Anderson, and the pair are employed by Raine & Horne, Bondi Junction, Coogie and Clovelly. Farah reported that approximately 400 emails were sent in to express interest in the house. She stated that the enthusiasm for the property was sustained on a consistent basis.

Although more than 10 bidders were registered, the most intense competition for the house occurred between a few of the participants in the auction. Bidding started at the $1,700,000 level and got up to $2m rapidly. The original bidders did not keep up with the pace as new bidders entered the contest, however, and the hammer descended when the bidding had reached $2,240,000.
