A Randwick venue is set to host the first screening of a new film in Sydney next year.
A well-known theatre in Randwick has been selected to screen the Sydney premiere of the film “Scattered People”. After the film, which is being presented by Big Reel Films and the Asylum Seekers, there will be a special question-and-answer session hosted by filmmakers Lizzie and John Swatland and featuring special guests.
Cinemas and theatres presenting special events often look to local Print shops to produce professional advertisements that invite members of the public to attend.
The Scattered People film tells the story of Australian musicians sharing their sounds with asylum seekers from Iran and incorporating their vocal talents on their new album. It also poses the question of what the music people produce and listen to tells them about themselves, their life and their country.
The cinematic event was originally scheduled to be held in June this year, but was delayed due to safety restrictions regarding COVID-19.
The Sydney film premiere of Scattered People will now take place at the Ritz Cinemas at 45 St Paul Street in Randwick on Thursday, February 10 from 7 pm until 9 pm. Tickets for the event are priced at $28 per person.
All profits from the event will help the Asylum Seekers Centre, enabling it to offer services and support to those who live in Sydney seeking asylum.
