Fans race to New South Wales for Randwick Guineas

The 1,600 metre race now known as the ‘Randwick Guineas’ will take place in March, attracting horse racing fans from all over the country.

The Randwick Guineas is one of two important races that lead up to the Australian Derby, with the other race being the Rosehill Guineas. The winner from the Randwick Guineas automatically qualifies for a place in the Derby and a shot at its $2 million prize money.

The three races, also called the ‘Triple Crown’ are run as part of the Autumn Race Carnival which is held between March and April each year in Sydney. Organisers and promoters of events such as this often enlist the help of quality local printing services in order to collate documents and other promotional materials to distribute to the public.

The Randwick Guineas was originally named ‘The Canterbury Guineas’. The race faced a name change in 2006 when it moved venue to its new official home at Randwick Racecourse as a consequence of streamlining to the race calendar by the Australian Jockey Club and the Sydney Turf Club.

With total prize money of $1 million, The Randwick Guineas is a race for three year-olds attracting some of the best in the country. Last year, the Guineas was won by Kementari and jockey Glyn Schofield.

The Randwick Guineas will take place on Saturday, 9th March at the Randwick Racecourse.
