The faces of more than 100 local people are now flying high across Randwick City as part of a new council promotion.
The council began its community pride initiative late last year, asking locals to share what they most liked about living in the area.
In February, portraits were taken of those who had registered for the scheme, and the final 151 pictures were chosen by a panel. They include students, children, people who have lived in the area for several decades, and people who work in the area.
Banner printing has been used to create the Signs, which are four metres high and have now been mounted on street poles across the city, including in Randwick and Maroubra. The Banners will fly until early June and each one will then be given to the person featured on them as a memento.
Randwick City Mayor Ted Seng said the campaign was designed to celebrate the city and the everyday people that make it so great, but do not always get recognition.
Profiles of the people involved can also be found on the Your Say Randwick website. Residents are also being encouraged to share their own stories and images on social media with the hashtag #iamlocal, as well as marking on an interactive map on the council website if they spot a banner featuring someone they recognise.Get a Free Quote for Banners Get a Free Quote for Signs
