Excellence Awards acknowledge best of Randwick Citys commercial sector

Coogee Pavilion has excelled at the hotly contested 2015 Business Excellence Awards in Randwick, New South Wales.

The venue, owned by Justin Hemmes, was named 2015 Business of the Year and also won the category for Best New Business.

The latest awards took place in late August and have capped off a highly successful year for the Coogee Pavilion, which underwent an internal reimagining and renovation before opening in 2014.

Catalogue printing for the awards listed 27 categories, which attracted 186 finalists that professional judges and customers voted as the finest business organisations from across Randwick City.

Randwick’s popular outlet 22 Grams won the inaugural Best Coffee Award.

At a special presentation dinner, Mayor Ted Seng praised the quality of businesses operating in the city, and said the awards revealed many excellent enterprises that provided work for thousands of locals, and contributed to the identity of the eastern beaches area.

Award presentations for Outstanding Contribution to the Business Community were made to Richard Ho, who retired recently from his pharmacist in Randwick, and the late John Engelman whose Kingsford Furnishing Centre had been servicing the area since 1954.

Among other winners at the 2015 Awards night were The Heritage Kitchen Garden café, Maroubra Kinder Haven, Park Florist, Belle Property Randwick, Niji Sushi Bar, and Let’s Go Surfing.
