Randwick residents are being encouraged to combine the great outdoors with their individual fitness routines at the newly opened Frenchmans Reserve Outdoor Gym.

Flyers to alert residents of the new facilities, a City of Randwick spokesman said the outdoor gym was already receiving a great deal of interest and use.
He said the facility of state of the art and included many great features including metal equipment that was corrosion resistant and powder coated.
While paving had been introduced around the gym’s perimeter, he said, the ground covering in and around the gym was soft-fall designed.
Its modern equipment has been handpicked to cater for all levels of fitness and abilities with low impact exercises a particular focus, according to the spokesman.
The outdoor gym at Frenchmans Reserve is the City’s third with similar facilities introduced at Maroubra in 2013 and Clovelly in 2014.
The spokesman said the first outdoor gym at Maroubra proved to be extremely popular. It featured a wide array of cardio and strength equipment as well as a zig zag balance beam, elliptical trainer, leg press, aerobic cycle, stretch stations and parallel bars.
The outdoor gyms have become so popular with older people and those recovering from all sorts of injuries that the trend is set to continue with two more similar facilities planned for Chifley and Kensington.
