Central Randwick set for more light rail roadworks

Residents and businesses around central Randwick are being reminded that work on the new light rail connections will be taking place over the coming months.

The works are being carried out by ALTRAC Light Rail as part of the South East Light Rail project and will take several months to complete.

Work includes surveying, drainage improvement, footpath changes and adjustment of road levels, along with line marking and work for a new boardwalk around Centennial Park.

Most of the work will take place during the day, and while some roads will remain open, on-street parking will be restricted on others.

Businesses along the affected roads could use flyer printing and poster printing to advertise that they are still open during the roadworks, or to advertise special deals to encourage
customers to keep coming despite the disruption.

The changes are part of the New South Wales Government’s scheme to improve public transport around central Sydney and its suburbs, which include an extension of the line to the west and a new line to the southeast of the central business district running from Circular Quay through Randwick and Kingsford. Preparatory works started earlier this year, and the line is due to be finished by 2019.

The current works are scheduled to continue until April. More information can be found on the Randwick City Council website.
