Writer Lisa Walker will be in Randwick, New South Wales, for a special guest appearance at the Margaret Martin Library.
Book enthusiasts have experienced her writing talents in Sex, Lies and Bonsai, and the 2011 novel Liar Bird, as well as her latest release, Arkie’s Pilgrimage to the Next Big Thing, which will be the focus of her address in Randwick.
The novel, which has already been a focus in book company catalogue printing, has been described by the Randwick City Library website as a love story written with a distinct Australian flavour and wrapped in mystery, a little magic and a lot of humour.
The storyline takes readers on a journey with the central character, Arkie, who has reached a crossroads in her life, which has been complicated by a divorce lawyer of her husband’s who is in hot pursuit. An eccentric journey transpires, which opens her eyes to the very thing that is missing in her life, according to Randwick City Library.
Holland-born Lisa Walker has been the recipient of a number of awards. In 2005, she won the ABC Short Story competition, and also writes regularly for Outback Australia and Geo.
In 2008, her Baddest Backpackers radio play was featured on ABC Radio National. One of her short stories also proved the top choice for judges in the Byron Bay Writers Festival.
