Newcastle celebrates 40 years of local art

The Newcastle Art Space (NAS) celebrates more than 40 years as a key fixture of the Newcastle arts scene with 40+, a celebration of the alumni artists who have been a vital part of the NAS story. The exhibition will feature artworks in the wide range of mediums practised at the NAS studios, including painting, photography, sculpture, ceramic, and textile art.

Since 1983 the Newcastle Art Space has cultivated a community of artists of all levels, hosting studios, exhibitions, and competitions with the goal of developing creativity in the Newcastle/Hunter Valley region. The NAS hosts up to 20 resident artists at a time in their studios, forming a collaborative creative arts community, with artists specialising in painting, textile art, silversmithing, mixed media art, ceramics, installation art, printmaking, and sculpture.

Previous NAS artists have been invited to share their work for the 40+ celebration, contributing to an exhibition that showcases the last 40 years of art in the Newcastle/Hunter Valley region and celebrating the progress facilitated by the NAS. The exhibition will run for two weeks in May, with a number of show times to be announced closer to the exhibition’s launch.

Anniversary celebrations such as this are often a great time for organisations to launch an event-specific range of Promotional Products. These products may include tote Bags, Notebooks, and Stationery, and will likely feature the Logo Design of the organisation or event.

Newcastle residents will have the chance to celebrate the history of the NAS from Friday May 2nd until Sunday May 18th.
