New Annual set to revitalise Newcastle

Newcastle locals are preparing for New Annual, a ten-day festival scheduled for late September.

The yearly festival combines art, culture, and creativity in a vision to showcase the city’s creativity, ambitious spirit, and accessible, contemporary art and culture.

Attendees can participate in interactive art experiences, watch contemporary dance, theatre and comedy performances, and engage with First Nations music and workshops.

New Annual begins with First Night Street Party in King Street, with a headline performance from Gamilaraay man Mitch Tambo, who blends traditional Aboriginal sound and language with contemporary beats. The night will also feature performances from Tower Divas, local bands and DJs, with gourmet food and dynamic roving performances rounding out the evening.

Organisers of artistic and cultural events can get in touch with local Print shops to ensure their event is advertised and promoted in eye-catching, inviting and informative ways.

The New Annual festival is set to draw a crowd, and there are plenty of family-friendly events to choose from, including WonderCity, an immersive wayfinding experience beginning at the Civic Park Fountain, 10 Minute Dance Parties, and Curious Legends’ Whale Song parade of illuminated LED puppets.

With an inclusive mixture of free, ticketed and community events, New Annual offers unmissable experiences for everyone.

The New Annual festival takes place from 27 September to 6 October. Tickets can be purchased via the New Annual website.
