Budding watercolour artists will get the opportunity to put paintbrush to paper when the Blackstone Gallery in Newcastle hosts its popular Watercolour and Ink Workshop in September.
Artist Marguerite Tierney will present the workshop, which will focus on watercolour and ink techniques to create beautiful artworks around the theme of native flora. Marguerite Tierney is based in Newcastle and has a Bachelor of Contemporary Art, a Diploma of Fine Art and a Diploma of Primary Education. The watercolour workshop will feature various short exercises for participants to practise watercolour and ink techniques. Watercolour and ink painting may be used as inspiration for Logo Design on websites and Business Cards and can make for attention-grabbing imagery.
Watercolour painting involves the use of pigment dissolved in water, with the resulting colour being brushed onto a surface such as fabric or paper. It has been used for hundreds of years to create beautiful luminous paintings. Ink is very similar to watercolour and can also be used for fine line work, as well as delicate washes.
The Watercolour and Ink Workshop will be held on Sunday, September 17 at the Blackstone Gallery, 470 Hunter Street, Newcastle. It will run from 10am until 1pm.
