With Christmas a little over a month away, Sydney is gearing up for its festive celebrations.
The official Sydney Christmas tree in Martin Place, central Sydney, will be lit up in a special ceremony on Thursday November 28, with Santa and the Lord Mayor sharing the lighting duties.
A concert featuring including Hi 5 for the youngsters and Kate Ceberano for the adults will take place before the tree is lit, while the Sydney Children’s Choir will help with the festive mood by performing carols. A spectacular fireworks display will mark the end of the event.
This year’s tree is interactive, and people can text a special number with a message that will then be displayed on the tree.
Alexandria residents will need to wait a little longer for their local party, with a special family-friendly concert being held on Saturday December 7.
The concert will feature live performances by Justine Clarke and Pia Anderson, along with the ACMF choir. There will also be entertainment for the children and a sausage sizzle. Santa won’t be arriving in his usual sleigh but will instead be travelling by fire engine, and children can have their photo taken with him before enjoying a fireworks display.
Those taking lots of pictures at the events may want to turn to a professional printing company which can produce high quality prints that could be displayed at home or shared with friends and family members.
The Alexandria party takes place at the Alexandria Park Oval and starts at 6:30pm. For more details, visit the City of Sydney council website.
