Banksmeadow locals are invited to attend a musical performance coming to the area next month.
The concert features SPEL, a duo comprised of clarinettist Jason Noble and vocalist Louisa Rankin. It comes after SPEL’s release of their self-titled and debut album, which received accolades on the Jazz Valley website.
SPEL explores the abstraction and curiosity of improvisation in music-making, and Noble will begin the evening by performing Steve Reich’s iconic New York Counterpoint.
Following the concert’s interval, Rankin and Noble will be accompanied by producer and composer Connor D’Netto. The three will create an expansion and adaptation of SPEL’s sound with live electronics and modular synthesisers. D’Netto will also perform his three-movement work, Some Kinda Way.
The concert also serves as the launch of D’Netto and Noble’s album, which will be released on 5 December.

Live At The Church: SPEL x Connor D’Netto will run on Saturday, 13 December. The venue is The Church, which can be found at 9 Mitchell Road in nearby Alexandria. The concert begins at 4:00 PM and concludes at 6:00 PM. Concert tickets are free and will be drawn by ballot on Tuesday, 2 December.
