An educational event that teaches practical outdoor abilities while offering expert guidance is being held near Banksmeadow this winter.
Hikers in Banksmeadow looking to stay safer in the bush can attend an upcoming event called the “Wilderness Survival Workshop”. Running in nearby Alexandria, the experience will show delegates how to plan and get prepared for an outdoor excursion and offers valuable instruction on treating common injuries and illnesses that can occur while hiking.
Educators operating workshops and courses sometimes collaborate with professional Print shops to produce branded resources for those enrolling in their activities and events that reinforce lessons.
Presented by the Cool Girls Club, the two-hour workshop is led by Maddie Aliprandi, an experience guide who won the 2026 “Blue Mountains Guide of the Year”. Aliprandi will teach enrolees how to cope with several worst-case scenarios encountered in the bush.
Topics covered include safety and survival psychology, how actively participate in a rescue and best practices for efficiently treating dehydration, hyperthermia and snake bites.
The Wilderness Workshop is now taking place at Climbing Anchors Sydney on Thursday, August 20. The venue is situated at Unit 8/40/42 O'Riordan Street in Alexandria and costs $55 per person to participate. The workshop starts at 6.30 pm and ends at 8.30 pm.
Snacks, hot drinks, a snake bite bandage and an emergency blanket are all included in the price of the experience.
