Pearl Seas leases dock for two decades

The booming cruise ship in Milwaukee is set to keep going at least for another decade.

Pearl Seas Management has finalized a deal with Port Milwaukee on a 20-year lease. This allows the company to carry out its turnaround services at the city’s docks. The company will also be purchasing new security scanners in order to be compliant with security regulations.

Residents of Greenfield can enjoy the Great Lakes cruises, which can start or end at Port Milwaukee. The Milwaukee Cruise Collaborative will be marketing stay packages for the weekends. Brochure printing can be used to advertise similar offers.

Pearl Seas has been using Pier Wisconsin’s dock for its shop called Pearl Mist for over two years. The new deal will keep that happening for at least the next decade. The company has the option of extending the lease for another 10 years.

Adam Tindall-Schlicht, the Port Director who has served since 2018, said:

“Pearl Seas is the company that has put Milwaukee on the map from an international cruise perspective.”

The port can expect to make $400,000 over the decade of the lease agreement, and $500,000 during the second decade. Tindall-Schlicht also stated that he expected the cruise business to pick back up in 2021. The pandemic stopped any cruises arriving in 2020, and the new lease contains a clause that would halt payments if something similar were to happen again.
