Ty Hunt, the Director of Nutritional Services at Greenfield’s Hancock Regional Hospital, has found a solution to the challenge of shopping for health workers.
Taking a trip to the store after working all day is always a daunting prospect, but it is proving to be especially difficult for healthcare workers to find basic necessities after long shifts battling coronavirus.
Hunt has opened a mini-market inside the hospital so that his colleagues are able to get their hands on items that are becoming increasingly difficult to find in-store.
When asked about his mini-market, Hunt told Indystar.com:
“This is not something that we’re making money on at all. It’s a benefit for our associates. Something to help increase morale, help their mood and make it easier so they don’t have to go to the market after they got off work.”
He also said that the idea just came to him. He realized that the hospital has the space for it and it was something that healthcare providers working there would appreciate.
Kylie Cushman, who works as a physical therapist at the hospital, was finding it difficult to pick up simple items such as peanut butter at the local shops. She is a mother of a 15-month-old child so being able to find supplies so conveniently is having a positive impact on her life. Flyer printing could be used to let people know about such services.
About 100 people buy products from the market every day, Hunt says.
