Greenfield helps youth and families gain job skills

The Greenfield Public Library, in conjunction with the Greenfield School District and the Future Assets of America Organization, is beginning a seven-week workshop series titled ‘The Job Skills Workshop for Youth and Families’.

The workshops are devoted to help build the tools needed for young people to take their first steps towards following a career.

The workshops are based on the 28 Day to Employment Program, a training program presented by People Power LLC. The training system has proved effective in helping young people find employment for the first time, and even in aiding those who are struggling to find a new career. For this reason, people of any age who are trying to start a career are invited to attend.

The series will focus on how to become a more viable candidate on the job market by focusing on outward appearance. Everything from the suits people wear, to the Presentation Folders their résumés come in, to the way they are written is important. Next, the lessons will cover interview strategies. The workshops will then transition to the basic skills that everyone needs to be a valuable employee, and go on to talk about looking at jobs and careers through the eyes of an employer.

The Job Skills Workshop for Youth and Families will occur every Monday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm beginning April 11. The group will meet at the Greenfield Library located at 5310 W. Layton Ave. The program is free, but space is limited so registration is required. Anyone interested should contact the library directly or go to the website for more info.
