The Metropolitan Milwaukee Fair Housing Council is bringing the Fair Housing Training Seminar to Greenfield. The seminar helps current and prospective landlords know everything they need to be in full compliance with housing laws.
The event covers a wide variety of information useful to anyone with rental properties. Naturally, local, state, and federal property laws will be thoroughly examined, but it will also cover reasonable actions that need to be taken to accommodate renters with disabilities.
A section will also cover other aspects of property rental, including correct usage of marketing services and advertising to be in compliance with fair housing laws and nondiscriminatory negotiation with a potential tenant. The seminar will end with a discussion of how to interact with current occupants in a legal and fair manner.
The seminar is being funded by a block grant program called Milwaukee County Community Development, and as such is free to everyone in the community. It is being billed as an opportunity for everyone involved with rental property to get up to code as far as fair housing laws are concerned.
The seminar will be held on May 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the City of Greenfield Council Chambers located at 7325 West Forest Home Ave. Attendance is free and no preregistration is required. Anyone interested in attending should visit the website for more info.
