The Milwaukee Scottish Fest and Highland Games is taking place in a couple of weeks. Those who bring a donation for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Milwaukee before 10:00 am will receive $3 off of the admission fee.
The festival will feature the best of Scottish culture, including bagpipe bands, Highland dance competitions, and athletics. The Highland Games competition is for amateurs and the registration fee is $25. The top three athletes receive awards. The games include the caber toss, Scottish hammer throw and the standing heavy stone putt.
There are set to be axe throwing and longbow demonstrations, sheepdog trials, a parade of tartans, and a beer tent. In addition, there will be cultural exhibition and Viking tents.
Vendors will be on hand to sell a variety of Scottish-related merchandise and crafts, and an evening ceilidh (Gaelic music festival) will feature music from Dublin O'Shea and The Fin MacCools.
No doubt people who are interested in Scottish culture from all over the area, including nearby Greenfield, will want to take a trip to attend this festival. To make sure more people know about it, organizers could invest in flyer printing services.
The Milwaukee Scottish Fest will be held at Hart Park on June 6 from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm. Tickets are $10 and free for children aged 12 and under and military personnel. Call 414-774-0897 for more information.
