Area students to attend week-long fashion workshop

Next month, students in Milwaukee and its surrounding areas such as Greenfield will have the opportunity to attend the 2024 Fashion Academy.

The week-long fashion event is organized by Mount Mary University, a women’s institution that offers undergraduate and graduate programs in a supportive and enriching environment. The university prides itself on providing programs that combine creativity with passion and help students achieve their best selves.

The academy is designed for students in grades 8 through 12 that have a love of fashion and wish to learn more about the industry. Each day, there will be different activities and classes for students to choose from, with subjects including fashion brand development, trend forecasting, fashion photography and styling, runway photography and modeling, clothing construction, working with computer-aided design (CAD) software, college prep workshops, and fashion career workshops. Some classes will require previous experience, such as sewing, while others are completely aimed at the beginner.
