Festival will put the spotlight on indie stories

The Authors, Publishers and Readers of Independent Literature (APRIL) Festival is taking place in Seattle for six days this month.

The opening night party will take place at Barboza for those aged 21 and over, and will feature a presentation from Tessa Hulls, along with author readings.

On March 25, a happy hour will be hosted by Poetry Northwest at Vermillion, beginning at 5:30 pm. It will have readings from several local writers.

The rest of the week will feature more readings, visual arts displays, competitive storytelling, and a continental breakfast. The festival will finish off with the free Book Expo at Hugo House on March 29. Taking place from 11:00 am to 5:00 am, this is set to feature more than 40 small press representatives.

It is likely that some of the small press representatives taking part in the book expo will have contacted Seattle printing companies in order to produce Copies of the literature they hope to sell.

The APRIL Festival will take place in Seattle from March 24 to 29, with a competitive storytelling event is being held at the Northwest Film Forum on March 27 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door, and it is restricted to those aged 21 and over. Visit the APRIL website for more information.
