Workshop to explore Japanese floral traditions
Japan has a long cultural tradition of flower arranging, and a Seattle class will offer an introduction to this ancient art form.
The Seattle Japanese Garden will be providing a chance to discover The Way of Flowers, and it has organized an event that will see participants craft ikebana-style flower arrangements. The function will include a tour of the venue’s garden, and Peter Putnicki , who is the site’s senior gardener, will guide this portion of the activity.
Once the garden tour has been concluded, the group will move on to preparing their arrangement. The Ikebana International Seattle Chapter’s Mie Ross will be the facilitator for this portion of the morning. They will be walked through the process step by step, and everyone will be able to keep and take home their creation. Everyone is asked to bring a small pair of garden shears, and the registration fee is $120.
Learning a new skill may be both interesting and fun. A professional printing services company will be able to provide the organizers with any printed materials they feel they need to make their event a success.
Seattle Japanese Gardens, which is situated at 1875 Lake Washington Boulevard East, will be offering this chance to learn some new floral design skills on June 4th. It will start at 10:30 am, and draw to a close at 12:00 noon.
