Seattle session to explore secret life of urban beavers

The largest rodents in North America, beavers are often thought of as being nature’s engineers, and a web-based presentation will introduce these hardworking animals to the Seattle public.

Seattle and the Puget Sound area is home to several families of urban and suburban beavers, and the Zoom activity prepared by the University of Washington Botanic Gardens will explore the role they play in their ecosystems. It is $25 to sit in on the session, which is one and a half hours long.

Elyssa Kerr, who is the Executive Director of Beavers Northwest, will share her knowledge about how beaver dams can create new habitats for fish, birds, and other wildlife. She will also discuss how they may sometimes be seen as pests when they cause flooding. Kerr will offer tips that may help beavers and humans to coexist in peace, and the activity may be useful for property owners who are sharing their space with these industrious animals.

Even though a presentation may be scheduled to take place online, the attendees may still benefit from receiving information packets about the subject matter at hand. A brochure printing company will be happy to help prepare them, and can include other Promotional Products if desired.

This introduction to the beavers who call the Seattle area home has been planned for Wednesday, March 1. Everyone who registers has been asked to sign in by no later than 6:30 pm that evening.
