Festival fuses the past and present
Steamposium is taking place next month for three days. The event celebrates steampunk, which is a fusion of 19th-Century technology and 21st-Century advances.
The event will feature panel discussions, workshops, and the ‘Shake that Brass’ burlesque show. There will be many special guests, including artists, writers, and cosplay players. Some of the guests confirmed for this year are Brian Kesinger, the Airship Ambassador, and Ryan Wells.
One of the most popular activities will be the costume/cosplay contest hosted by artist Ingimar Oddsson. Prizes will be given for various categories, including props, best mask, most extravagant, and best adaptation from TV or film. The contest will be followed by the masquerade ball. Attendees must wear a mask and sport Steampunk, Edwardian, or Victorian dress.
There will also be a vendors’ room which is likely to attract a lot of attention. Guests will be able to purchase books, costumes, posters, and many steampunk-related accessories.
Vendors who are looking to be noticed may invest in banners from their favorite Seattle print company.
Steamposium will be held at the Washington State Convention Center from September 23 to 25. Tickets are $55 for the weekend for adults and $20 for children, while individual tickets are $25 on Friday, $40 on Saturday, and $30 on Sunday. To find out more about this event, visit the official website.
