Vienna to organize an all-ages race to support diabetics

Vienna will hold a virtual fundraiser race in December to help people impacted by type 1 diabetes.

The 2023 Countdown to None Virtual 5k is a fundraising program that lets people support the diabetic community without a large gathering. Participants are invited to complete the race at their convenience and their own pace. Those interested in using the regular course for the 5K can start their run at the Old Red Caboose. Finisher packets for the event can be picked up at Caffe Amouri in Vienna. People will also receive swag for the race and a finisher bell.

The virtual race will benefit the JDRF, a group that aims to get rid of type 1 diabetes by researching cures and preventative measures. The charitable organization has raised $473 million in research support last year. The goal of the foundation’s research is to help those with type 1 diabetes restore their body’s ability to make insulin and improve the lives of people with the condition through new resources and technologies.

The virtual race will take place from Sunday, December 17th to Sunday, December 31st. The cost to register for the program is $40 per person. People can pick up their finisher packets on Sunday, January 7th. Charitable foundations responsible for these fundraisers can utilize banner printing to promote their mission to more members of their communities.
