The Downtown Norfolk Council will hold a competitive event this month to see which business has the best hot chocolate.
The Great Hot Cocoa War is a contest between local businesses where people can try several types of hot chocolate and vote on which participant has their favorite. Stores that join the competition will sell sample sizes of their drinks for $2 each. Consumers can pick up scorecards for the event and take notes about each drink, then they can vote for the best drinks online. An official map that shows the participating businesses and cocoa flavors will be available the night before the event.
The competition will feature up to 25 businesses. Those who participate in the contest must create a non-alcoholic hot chocolate and use cups from Selden Market. The store serving what is voted as the Greatest Cocoa in All the Land will win a $100 certificate and a championship belt. There will also be a meme competition that businesses can join for a chance to win a $100 certificate. Companies are only allowed to submit one custom hot chocolate recipe for the contest.
The Great Hot Cocoa War will be held from Saturday, November 21 to the following Saturday, November 28. Businesses that want to take part in the competition can pay $75. Stores that are part of the Downtown Norfolk Council may participate in the event for free. Organizations that hold community competitions like this may use banner printing services to share information about their contests with locals.
