For three days, Norfolk locals can enjoy ships, entertainment, and fun activities.
The 39th Annual Norfolk Harborfest features boats of all kinds, parades, and a selection of competitions.
The event will kick off with the ‘Parade of Sail’, where a fleet of ships will visit the Downtown Norfolk Harbor. Onlookers can see the site from the Elizabeth River. No doubt flyer printing was used to promote the event.
Attendees can also check out the Chesapeake Bay Workboat Parade, where all the boats get decked out in a creative manner. In addition, during the 'Chesapeake Bay Workboat Race', Watermen will compete for the win.
Each day, there will be a full lineup of bands on several different stages. Another highlight is the ‘Build-a-Boat Challenge’, where participants build a boat and then put it to the test in a race. On the second night, a fireworks show will light up the sky.
On land, visitors can check out the Navy Stewards of the Sea, where they will learn more about environmental causes in relation to the sea. Attendees can also visit the boardwalk arcade, take in a mermaid or acrobat show, or make bandanas at the ‘Pirate School’. The ‘World’s Largest Potato' will make an appearance on wheels.
The Harborfest will be held on June 5 and 6 from noon until 11:00 pm, and June 7 from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm. It all takes place at Town Point Park in Downtown Norfolk.
