Manassas commemorates with parade and races

Old Town Manassas will present the Greater Manassas Saint Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 14th.

The route will be along Center Street and the parade will last from 11:00 am until noon. Units will include non-profits, schools, local businesses, Alexandria Pipe and Drum corps, and Irish dance groups. Units and costumes are to reflect this year’s theme which will be the shamrock.

This year’s route will start at the intersection of Quarry Road and Prescott Avenue. From Prescott the route will proceed onto Center Street, to West Street and go passed the reviewing stage at Center and West Streets. It will end at the Harris Pavilion entrance. Parade parties will take place at the Sinistral Brewing Company, 9419 Main Street from 9:00 an until 11:00 pm and 1:00pm to 6:00 pm at Tucked Away Brewing , 8420 Kao Circle.

Runs are scheduled for the following weekend, March 21st. Running with the Saints will be a walk/race through Manassas neighborhoods. The race/walk will begin at 9294 Stonewall Road in the Historic District. Prizes and medals will go to top three finishers in each age division.

The 21st Annual Shamrock Run 5k and 1-mile Fun Walk will begin at 8:00 am and 8:05 respectively at 10100 Hastings Drive. Early registrants will be guaranteed T-Shirts sporting the event’s green Rocky Raccoon running graphic design.
