Richardson, has been included by Livability.com in its list of Top 100 Places to Live.
Coming in at No. 41, Richardson is the highest ranking of small to mid-sized Texas cities on the list
Livability used a proprietary algorithm on 1,000 municipalities to derive each one’s LivScore. In order to rank the municipalities, Livability analyzed 40 data points from the following eight categories: housing, healthcare, amenities, education, demographics, economy, social and civic capital, and infrastructure and transportation.
Richardson’s score of 652 was primarily credited to its safe neighborhoods, home values, outstanding schools, and the city’s access to public transportation, provided by the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) system.
The nationally recognized Telecom Corridor, of which Richardson is part, contains over 500 telecommunications and high-tech companies.
Businesses, as well as families, take liveability into consideration when deciding where to locate. Communities, realizing this, generally include any rankings that reflects well on them in advertising materials they send to Print shops.
Among the Richardson-specific attributes listed in the breakdown of the individual cities on the Livability list were CityLine, and the Charles W. Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts and Corporate Presentations. The former, a mixed-use development, was mentioned as a Favorite Weekend Activity destination, while the latter was named a Creative Hub. Other factors listed in Richardson’s favor were its 40 miles of trails for hiking and biking, and its busy festival calendar.
