All entries must be submitted on a coloring page copied from the library website. Copies must be printed at 100% as opposed to the fit-to-size setting. Art supplies permitted for use include paint, colored pencils, markers, and crayons. Entrants are encouraged to make their designs bright and colorful.
Design competitions for children engender a sense of inclusion to participants as well as other youngsters interacting with that organization. Moreover, these types of contests are where many graphic design experts get the first taste of their future career.
According to Richardson Public Library Youth Services Supervisor Shay Brooks, as quoted on Richardson Today:
“We know we have some excellent illustrators out there. Children and teens can draw anything they like that relates to Richardson, reading or the Library. Go crazy being creative.”
Entries should contain the child’s name and parent’s phone number and email. The deadline for turning in children’s artwork is 2:00 pm on August 7. Designs can be submitted via email or dropped off in person at the Library’s children’s department. Notification will be received by the contest winner by August 12. The winning artwork will appear on the library’s new cards in Autumn 2020.
