Council to decide on townhouse proposal

The location of a Sting Soccer Club complex in Richardson may soon become the site of a townhouse development.

At a meeting earlier this month, members of the Richardson City Plan Commission approved the plans for Park Hollow, an 89-unit townhouse neighborhood. The plans are now set to go to the City Council and are likely to be discussed on June 3 at a meeting.

The site is being developed by the Skorburg Company from Dallas, which intends to build 89 townhome apartments. The project satisfies the standards for community residential zoning, which expressly allows for townhomes, even though the site is located inside the Town of Buckingham's zoning area. This is according to Sam Chavez, Director of Development Services at Richardson.

As per the city guidelines, the interior area of the apartments needs to be no smaller than 1,300 square feet. The project's development partner, John Arnold, estimated that each apartment will span between 1,600 and 1,700 square feet. Design plans can be presented using graphic design in such cases.

VP of acquisitions at the Skorburg Company, Neil Stenberg, stated that plans are also in place to purchase around two acres just north of the site, which will be put to use as a detention pond. At least 15 trees, two park seats, and a four-foot walking route will all be present at the site.

The neighborhood will need to establish a homeowner’s association. Upkeep of the community's common spaces and rights of way will fall within the purview of this organization.
