Chicago firm buys tech campus

The campus for a tech university located in Richardson has been purchased by an investor from Chicago.

The Fujitsu campus covers more than 66 acres of land and is situated at 2801 Telecom Parkway to the east of the Bush Turnpike. The campus has multiple buildings used for offices and industrial works. The total floor space of the buildings is about 820 square feet.

The campus is the home of local operations for Fujitsu Network Communications. Celestica, a manufacturer of electronics that works closely with Fujitsu, also operates out of this space. The Richardson property was sold to Dayton Street Partners and the sale was financed using a loan worth $68.6m. The firm is known for buying and developing logistics and industrial properties. Sale agreements tend to be printed on documents with official Letterheads.

Fujitsu started work on the campus in Richardson in 1989. Three years later, the plant was able to house up to 1,200 workers. Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. is a technology solutions provider that specializes in grocery retail logistics. It relocated its North American head of operations to the campus in Richardson in 2008. Several other Fujitsu companies also operated out of the Richardson campus.

This is the latest in a number of high-profile real estate deals in North Texas in 2022. Close to $33bn worth of commercial properties in the region changed hands over the year’s first nine months.
