The group will walk through the preserve, and as they go, their guide will point out native plants and animals, as well as the habitats they need to thrive. They will discover the importance of protecting the environment and what they can do to give Mother Nature some TLC, and tickets for the excursion start at $5.

The participants are asked to be at the Oak Point Park Nature and Retreat Center lobby by no later than 5:00 pm. Stationery printers will be able to supply an assortment of activity sheets and other items that can be distributed to the younger participants so they can keep on learning even after they have left for home.

The Family Night Hike, which is open to those who are age four and up, will be offered on December 19. The venue can be found at 5901 Los Rios Boulevard in Plano.
