Winter Walk to brush off the big freeze

Mansfield locals who are itching to get outdoors and get some exercise after the lazy days of the holiday season can join other like-minded folk in the annual Winter Walk.

This family-friendly event helps promote health and fitness, as well as a good mood, as the long winter sets in.

The Winter Walk is an annual event that began when Walnut Creek Linear Park was opened back in 2006. Since that time, it has become a local institution with people from all across the area showing up and communing with nature as they walk together for a common purpose.

The walk will begin at Katherine Rose Memorial Park and end at Town Park. Participants walk, jog, or run along the cement pathway through the grassy tree-covered park system that lines Walnut Creek. Walkers can enjoy the experience either by themselves or with friends, relatives, or co-workers.

This year, there will be activities at the end of the walk, such as massage booths, informational talks, kids’ attractions, and healthy snacks. Those planning to attend may want to have Flyers made to help promote the event.

The Walk will take place starting at 9:00am this Saturday, January 23, next to the Mansfield Activities Center 106 S. Wisteria Mansfield, and will run until approximately 11:00 am. The walk will be free. Participants are advised to wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. Dogs on leashes will be allowed.
