Mansfield rockabilly lovers will not want to miss a night of old-fashioned Texan music, as the Bob Livingston Quartet will be coming to town at the end of this month.
Singer and songwriter Bob Livingston is one of Austin’s own. His rockabilly blues have been part of Texan culture since he was a part of Austin’s outlaw country, progressive country and cosmic cowboy movements back in the 1970s.
Livingston is a bass player and was a founding member of the Lost Gonzo Band, and has been a part of six of the band’s albums and nine solo albums. He has joined forces with such Texas artists as Jerry Jeff Walker and Michael Martin Murphey. He is now out on the road as a solo artist and band leader.
As an ambassador for the U.S. State Department, Bob has taken his Texas music to many parts of the world, including the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa, and India. In 2009 Austin’s City Council appointed him Austin’s International Music Ambassador. ‘Gypsy Alibi’ was the title of his last CD, which won Texas Music Awards 2011 Album of the Year. Poster printing has been a part of the artist’s promotion for many years now.
The performance will be presented on October 25, from 8:00 pm to 10:30 pm, at the Historic Farr Best Theater, 109 North Main Street, Mansfield.
