In a statement, Julie Crisafulli, a youth service librarian, commented to say:
“We are so excited. This feels like the first normal summer. Last year we had renovation, before that we had COVID. We are really excited to be back to normal.”
The Summer Reading Challenge at the library encompasses two main components: programs and reading. The program offerings are diverse and include activities such as story times, magic shows, tea parties, and presentations about science heroes.
While all the programs offered as part of the Summer Reading Challenge are free, certain programs may require people to register in advance. Registrations for these programs will become available two weeks prior to the event. The organizers’ stated goal for this challenge is to keep children reading even though they are not in school.
The Summer Reading Challenge started with a party on June 1st at Katherine Rose Memorial Park. In collaboration with the Mansfield Parks & Recreation Department, the library hosted an event featuring pop-up playtime activities and an opportunity for participants to sign up for the reading challenge. Stationery printers can usually be found at public libraries.
The Summer Reading Challenge concludes with another party on July 28th, which will be held at the Mansfield Activities Center. This event will feature bounce houses, exciting prizes, and pop-up playtime activities for participants to celebrate their reading achievements.
