St. Paddy's Day parade returns to Mansfield

The St. Paddy’s Pickle Parade & Palooza event is returning for its 12th edition in March.

The theme for this festival is “Ease on Downtown". The festival’s theme is in honor of the 160 years of history between merchants and residents in downtown Mansfield. The grand marshals for this year’s edition are Ann Smith and Dr. Robert Smith, who will be helped by their daughters and granddaughter. The Smith family has played an active role in downtown’s existence for over 40 years.

Dr. Smith relocated to Mansfield in 1977 and started an optometry practice. He worked for the Mansfield ISD’s Board of Trustees for several years, including a one-year term as president. He is also on Mansfield’s Historic Landmark Commission, and has been since it was created about 25 years ago. Both Dr. Smith and his wife have their names featured on Mansfield’s Wall of Honor.

The St. Paddy’s Pickle Parade is scheduled for March 18th to 19th. The parade will start at noon on the 18th, moving through the downtown area. The two-day event will feature live concerts from bands such as Texas Flood, the Bethlehem Baptist Choir, and LanceBattalion. The Pickle Queens will be on-site to make sure that everything runs smoothly. Banner printing is a popular feature that can be found at many parades.

Admission to the festival, as well as parking, is free.
