MISD business department claims award

The Business Services Division at Mansfield ISD has received numerous national and state accolades in recognition of its exceptional performance.

Mansfield ISD has maintained its position as the top-rated school district in the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) for two decades in a row. The Texas Education Agency established School FIRST to guarantee that public schools efficiently administer their financial resources to allocate the highest possible amount toward direct instructional purposes.

MISD has consistently obtained a top-notch or "A" rating since the beginning of Texas' financial accountability system. A set of 20 financial indicators is evaluated to compute the FIRST ratings. These include administrative expense disbursement, long-term financial stability, precision of data, and identification of any financial vulnerabilities or flaws in internal controls detected by an external auditor. Printing services can be used to create checklists like this.

School FIRST mandates that Texas school districts and open-enrollment charters produce an annual financial accountability report. Out of numerous districts, only 24, including the Business Services team, were honored with the Meritorious Budget Award presented by the Association of School Business Officials International.

The Meritorious Budget Award acknowledges exemplary techniques for presenting budgets in school districts. To qualify, entrants must submit their budgetary documents for the fiscal year to a review panel of school business officials. The budget must exhibit technical proficiency, the clear narration of facts and data, exact mathematical computations, and no grammatical mistakes.
