Mansfield welcomes end of summer with music

Historic Downtown Mansfield will be transformed into the 80s with entertainment, arts, and music at the Music Alley Festival coming the first Saturday in September.

Six venues – the Main, Dance Music, Cinderblock and 210 stages and Farr Best Theater, will have music acts. Some of these will be live local DJs and others will have groups such as WOWU2, Electric Avenue, Shot of Benatar, Danny Dash, Even it UP and Sherrill Douglas and Primadonna. The Lot Downtown will feature the movie, “Footloose” starting at 7:00 pm.

The venue will also offer interactive art exhibits, contests and games.Texas Entertain will bring their arcade games, Maverick VR will have virtual reality experiences and 80’s makeovers will be done by Sinclair’s Cosmetology.

Food such as kettle corn, burgers and Tex-Mex BBQ will be available for purchase.

Over 20 artists will be displaying and selling their creations. Some of these will be bringing razor art, Books, class, and pottery. Artists at events such as this often bring businesses cards for interested passers-by.

A juried photography contest is in full swing and entries must be sent to 1164 Matlock Road before August 26th.

There will also be a mixed media art contest for original work in sculpture, painting, drawing, etc. Each contest also will have a youth component. Finalists’ entries will be shown at the festival and winners will receive prizes.

Music Alley 2910 will be in full swing September 7th in Historic Downtown Mansfield from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm.
