Mansfield runners, kids and dogs get out and race

Rescheduled to June 8, the annual Barks & Rec 5K still has a few openings left for runners and their pooches.

The event is also open to those who wish to run without pets, and dogs from the Mansfield Animal Shelter will be provided for those who do not have any of their own. The shelter will get some of the proceeds from this event. A Bark in the Park is planned for after the race. That event will include food, games, booths, activities, and shopping geared to dogs and their owners. Barks and Rec 5 K will begin at 9:00 am and go until 11:30 am at Katherine Rose Memorial Park, 303 North Walnut Creek Drive.

Another sweet race on the 8th will be the Sugar Rush 5K. Those with a sweet tooth can run the 5k and enjoy cupcakes, candy and treats along the course. Those who want to run the course for time can run for medals.

Our local child celebrity from Kids Baking Championship on the Food Network, Jaxon Remillard will be on hand to sign autographs. He will also available for photos with guests. Fans of celebrities and shows such as Jaxon and the Kids Baking Championship often like to take these pictures to local Print shops for Copies for friends and relatives.

Sugar Rush 5K will also be at the Katherine Rose Memorial Park starting at 9:00 am and going until noon.
