The award is given by the Texas Art Education Association. More than 1,000 districts were able to apply for the award. Only 59 of those districts were able to meet the high standard requirements that put them among the top 4 percent of districts with art education programs in the state.
Superintendent Kimberly Cantu acknowledged the receipt of the award by saying:
“In Mansfield ISD, we set a standard of excellence in everything we do, including our fine arts curriculum. This acknowledgment that our educators are providing the opportunities for creativity and student growth at the highest levels is an honor.”
The Texas Art Education Association chose Mansfield ISD as the winner because of its exemplary arts program. The district’s art program is known to be a comprehensive educational experience that integrates and advocates for a visual arts curriculum that inspires creativity and connects the students to their communities. Promotional Products such as art supplies could be donated to schools with arts programs.
This is the fourth year running that the TAEA has awarded the District of Distinction Award.
