Mansfield honors the pickle

Mansfield, the Pickle Capital of Texas, will once again celebrate St. Paddy’s Day with its traditional St. Paddy’s Pickle Parades, pickleball tournament, races, and palooza.

At 1:00 pm on March 16, for the sixth year, the Pickle Parade will feature over 90 pickle-themed floats, and units. Red-wigged Pickle Queens in their thrift-store prom dresses and rhinestone tiaras, along with their Pickle Posse, will be in the last floats.

Everyone will be watching the motorized beer keg race, participating in the one-mile, 5k, and 10k runs, competing in the pickle ball tournament, and enjoying all the dill pickles.

The Pet Parade will be on Main Street on March 15, starting at 5:00 pm. Both pet and owners will be arrayed in St. Patrick’s Day splendor.

The next day at 11:00 am, the Baby Parade takes to the street. Since this year’s theme will be moon rocks to commemorate the moon landing’s 50th anniversary, decorations and costumes will follow that theme. Parents and relatives will be taking plenty of pictures of their little ones to take to the Stationery printers for family Calendars and personal Stationery.

The Pickle Palooza will take place over the two days. There will be free entertainment, children’s activities, a food court, vendor market, and pickle contests.

This year’s Pickle Parade and Palooza is scheduled for March 15 and 16 in downtown Mansfield. The Pickle Ball Tournament will run from March 15 through 17 at the Fieldhouse USA Mansfield.
