Mansfield heads outdoors for winter run

It is that time of year when Mansfield runners and joggers get ready for the annual Mansfield Methodist Medical Center Snowman 5K, which will be coming in a few days. Individuals and families can enter either the 5K run/walk or the family one-mile walk.

Adult registration will be $20, and reregistration can be done at the Mansfield Activities Center for the timed 5K race.

The event will be for all ages and hot cocoa and s’mores will be waiting at the finish line. Awards will go the three top boy and girl finishers in four age categories – 8 and under, 9-10, 11-13, and 14 through 16.

Packets may be picked up early at the Academy Sports + Outdoors on Friday, January 11 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

This can be either a fundraising project for some charity organization or a team-building event for businesses. Running events such as this can be used in brochure printing by towns for their visitor guides or businesses for their advertising campaigns.

The Snowman Run 5K and Family Fun Run is scheduled for Saturday, January 12 starting at 9:00 am and ending around 11:00 am at Katherine Rose Park, 303 North Walnut Creek Drive.

Race Day check-in will begin at 8:00 am, packet pick up from 8:00 am to 9:00 am and the Run/walk will begin at 9:00 am.
