This year’s Mansfield Wurst Fest has been scheduled for early next month.
The festival marks the beginning of fall for the area. Although admission will be free, everyone will want to bring cash or cards to buy German food such as bratwurst, and merchandise from the local arts and crafts vendors. Over 10,000 people are expected to attend.
Dachshund owners will want to get their pups in shape to enter the Weenie Dog Race. The event will also have live music of the oom-pah kind, with German bands and singers. German-themed contests will be held throughout the event. A talented local singer will win the Mansfield Voice contest, while kids will enjoy activities that relate to German culture and bounce houses in the Kids’ Area.
There will also be a 'Frankfurter 500 Race' featuring cars made of hot dogs, barrel races, and fireworks. Brad Thompson and his seven-piece band will be making an appearance on the outdoor stage. He promises to call out the Chicken Dance.
There is still time to get the word out about this event to local organizations before their September newsletter printing. Everyone will want to come out to Mansfield’s Wurst Fest, which will take place Saturday, September 10, on Main Street between Broad Street and Oak Street in downtown Mansfield. The Fest will run between 2:00 and 10:00 pm, with Thompson's performance beginning at 8:00 pm.
