Mansfield locals will get a chance to attend a performance of the traditional holiday classic ‘The Nutcracker’ very soon. The family-friendly event will be offered just twice so those who wish to see it need to mark their Calendars now.
The Nutcracker is a musical (composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky) and ballet production, offering bright costumes and classical music. The story is of a little girl who receives a wooden nutcracker that looks like a soldier as a Christmas present. After being sent to bed, she sneaks back downstairs to play with her new toy, only to find it has grown to human size and has come to life, as have many of the other toys. Adding to the excitement, a small war has broken out between the mice that live in the house and a band of newly animated gingerbread soldiers. Eventually, the little girl winds up taking a journey to a magical forest with the nutcracker soldier who has transformed into a prince.
Those that plan to attend may want to bring a good camera for lots of picture taking, for possible later use in making Holiday Cards.
The Nutcracker will be presented Saturday, December 19, at the ISD Center for the Performing Arts, 1110 West Debbie Ln, Mansfield, at 2:00 pm and again at 6:00 pm. Tickets will cost $12.Get a Free Quote for Holiday Cards Get a Free Quote for Calendars
