Gold Star status is the greatest recognition possible for an affiliate. Out of the 300 affiliates in Texas, only 86 have earned Gold status.
Several factors are taken into consideration when awarding Gold Star Status. The affiliates must have a clear strategy and goals, give good answers to questions about their inclusion practices and economic development, and be given a letter indicating the support of their communities. Gold Star Communities will be officially recognized at the KTB conference scheduled for June. Many awards have their own unique Logo Design.
The Executive Director of Keep Texas Beautiful, Suzanne Kho, commented to say:

Our Gold Star Affiliates are educating and engaging community members, actively recruiting and managing volunteers, hosting cleanup and beautification events throughout their community and so much more.”
During an active 2021 for KTB, its affiliates took on 41,550 volunteers who in total contributed almost 200,000 hours of work that were used to clear up three million pounds of waste from Texas’ public spaces. Mansfield in particular was able to implement programs designed to recycle waste, collect litter, and educate locals in a bid to keep the streets clean and increase the community’s natural beauty.
