Hungry Mansfield locals are in for a treat next month, as the Mansfield WurstFest approaches.
It promises to be a fun-filled day for people of all ages, which of course includes the whole family. The day should be full of weenie roasts, kids’ stuff, entertainment, and of course lots of bratwurst.
WurstFest was established to acknowledge the German heritage of many locals, and because of that, it is meant to enlighten and inform about German culture while also providing a fun-filled outing for people looking for something new and interesting to do.
The festival will be part of ‘Mansfield, 125’, a yearlong celebration of the town’s quasquicentennial that got underway on August 23. There will be vendors selling food, artists and craftspeople selling their wares, along with German music, the Frankfurter 500 race, weenie dog races, and a concert in the evening featuring Earl Dibbles Jr. and Granger Smith. The day will be capped off with fireworks. Those that attend will surely want to bring their best camera for capturing the action for later postcard printing.
Wurstfest will be held Saturday, September 12, from 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm on the corner of Broad and Main St. in downtown Mansfield. Attendance is free, though there will be charges for food and drinks. The fireworks are scheduled to go off at 9:30 pm.
