The space is being funded by a grant worth $23,500 that came from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The library will be using the funds to develop what they are calling a Mobile Makerspace which will make it possible for people in the area to seek knowledge and improve their understanding of science and technology.
The project in Mansfield is only one out of 42 projects that have been made possible thanks to grants donated by the U.S Institute of Museum and Library Services. The organization is able to provide such grants because of the Library Services and Technologies Act.
A statement from the city’s mayor, Michael Evans, said:
“The Mansfield Public Library continues to provide more opportunities for us to learn and grow. I thank our hardworking staff for applying for grant opportunities to bring the latest technology and innovative education to our city.”
The library has invested in the makerspace, state-of-the-art technology and an educational nutrition course, all of which is based on feedback from its customers. The project will be focus primarily on craft creation, nutrition literacy and STEM exploration based on the success of existing programs and opportunities for partnerships. Poster printing is an effective way of promoting a new installation such as this.
