Early in December, Mansfield will once again play host to the Hometown Holidays event. It will be a three-day celebration of the holiday season with, activities for people of all ages.
The celebration will kick off with a tree lighting ceremony at City Hall, followed by ice skating, a visit from Santa, and a Holiday Market. The local community center will give a presentation of ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’. There will also be fireworks and of course a parade.
In addition to all this, there will be a Hometown Holiday Falala 5k run/walk along the city’s Walnut Creek Linear Trail, a Shrek Presentation and a Holiday Tour of Homes. Those who plan to attend are asked to bring a toy to donate to Toys for Tots, and may also want to bring their best camera for capturing all the action for possible later use in making Holiday Cards.
The event will run from December 4 to 6 in downtown Mansfield. The tree lighting, skating, Santa visit, Holiday Market, and theater presentation will be on Saturday (December 5), from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Also on the Saturday will be the run/walk (starting and finishing at Katherine Rose Memorial Park beginning at 9am), Shrek Presentation (at noon on the Main Parade Stage), and Parade (starting and ending at St Jude Church and beginning at 2:30 pm).
